Join Aidan this autumn for an afternoon of exploration and discovery through Iyengar yoga.
Like the dark side of the moon, the back of the body is a relatively unknown place for us. We tend to focus on what is in front of us, which can lead to overstimulation and a tendency for our nervous systems to be too much in ‘fight or flight’.
This workshop invites us to turn our attention around - to journey through the less familiar landscape behind us.
We will work through a range of familiar asanas, including standing poses, forward bends, backbends and inversions, to explore how bringing our awareness to the back of the body can help to bring a feeling of peacefulness and lightness.
Rather than simply focusing on the shape of the poses, we’ll explore what happens when we bring our attention to the sensations, breath and subtle movements happening behind us. The back body can offer a different quality of support and spaciousness, helping us to soften our habitual patterns and find a little more ease.
After the workshop there will be a chance to stay for a cup of tea and a chat about yoga, or other things.
